SRINAGAR, Sep. 23: The Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court dismissed a petition filed by Basant Kumar, a former member of the Indian Police Service (IPS), asking for security protection.
The Ministry of Home Affairs forced Basant Rath into an early retirement last month on the grounds of “public interest.”
On September 11, High Court Judge Rajnesh Oswal issued an order allowing petitioner Basant Rath to seek the relevant organizations for resolution of his grievances.
The petitioner in the current Writ petition identified himself as a resident of the District of Samba and filed the plea with the High Court’s Srinagar Wing, asking the respondents to grant him security protection, housing, and a vehicle.
Nothing that would indicate that the petitioner had ever addressed the respondents for redress of his complaint(s) has been entered into the record. However, the present Writ petition is dismissed by allowing the petitioner to contact the relevant agencies to address his grievances, if any, according to the ruling that dismissed the claim.
