JAMMU, Sep 28: The Meteorological Office forecasted light to moderate rain or snowfall over higher altitudes in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the next 24 hours on Thursday.
According to the MeT office, mild to moderate rain or snowfall over higher ranges is highly likely to begin late evening or night at numerous areas in north Kashmir and will gradually spread to other parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
On September 29, snow may fall in the Kashmir valley, Pirpanjal, and Sonmarg-Zojila passes on the Ladakh highway.

It is possible that rain or snow will fall over higher ranges on September 29 as well, highly likely in several areas in Kashmir and isolated places in the Jammu region.
The weather is expected to be mostly dry on September 30, and mostly dry from October 1 to 5, with the exception of a brief bout of rain or snowfall over higher elevations in isolated spots, according to the MeT office.
According to the forecast, there will be no significant rain or snowfall over the next week.
The MeT office has also urged farmers to postpone crop harvesting on September 29 due to the possibility of rain or snow.
Srinagar recorded a low of 10.8 degree Celsius on Thursday which was 0.4 degree Celsius below normal.
